Quilt for Kids 2
I've been working on my Quilt for Kids quilt. I have learned so much... mostly the importance of seeing in the correct seam allowance and keeping things square.
All my blocks are together and rows sewn. I was starting to think this would never be done. When I originally sewed my orange and green fabric together, I messed up the seam allowance. I figured I could fix this along the way. I did, but it took a lot of extra work and isn't perfect. (This is my first quilt and I'm teaching myself so I'm not expecting perfection.) In hindsight, I should have taken my orange and green squares apart once I figured out they weren't right and seen them again.
I'm excited to be making progress!

My First Quilt
I'm just learning to sew. I've never made a quilt, but when I read about Downey's Quilt for Kids program, I knew I had too take the plunge.
I was so excited when I received my package yesterday from Downey. The fabric they sent me is adorable.
Downey sends you the fabric for the quilt already cut out and the instructions. You provide the thread and batting. They ask that the quilt be completed and sent back in 4-6 weeks.
The quilt will be donated to children in hospitals, as part of the Downey Touch of Comfort program. There is a tag provided for you to add your name and quilt's name. The coolest part is they have a website, Downey.com/HelpingKids, where you can register your quilt and tell your quilt's story. Then as kids use your quilt in the hospital they can go and add to the story of the quilt.
I can't wait to get started!

I am a winner!
So I have been crafting like crazy, trying to get back in the swing of things in preparation of my upcoming unemployment. I am taking pictures as I go, thinking I might revive my blog and post tutorials... Try to get back to the Craftess (my own word for a Craft Godess), I once was.
Everyday I peruse many different craft blogging search of inspiration and just to see what others are creating. Along the way, I enter a give away or two.
Well today I WON... and it is an awesome prize, especially for a Craftess!
From the blog sewcraftcreate.com I won an Craft Caddy OttLite. I am so excited and can't thank Heidi and OttLite enough!
Please, go by and visit Heidi's blog!

My newest project!
So I have had the need to make something lately...
My newest creation is this wood box, purchased at a dollar store. I am decoupaging it with adorable Hello Kitty envelopes.
Ya'll know I have a thing for anything Asian and I love HK.
HK in a kimono with cherry blossoms dancing in the breeze is so me.

Who would have thunk it?
After 17 years with the "phone company", I was okay with being laid off. When I left Qwest, I would have never, ever thought I would go back.
That was almost 2 years ago. Those 2 years have been very trying. I have had many ups and downs.
I've been looking for a job. I decided I should apply with the "phone company" again based on the pay and benefits that are bargained for by CWA. Well, surprise, surprise...I have passed the initial testing and have a face to face interview next week.
Who would have thunk I would ever consider going back?

Where has aimZ been?
As usual my life has been kinda insane, but things are good.
I started a job 6 weeks ago with the 3rd largest web hosting company in the world. I love it! I already got a promotion to tech support and started training this week. I am learning so much!
Other than that, the cheer season ended for Kennedy on February 29, 2008. It's kinda nice to take a break, but we miss it too.
Last weekend, Kennedy, Jordan, Noah and I attended Art Detour in downtown Phoenix. We made hats out of paper bags, painted rocks and even did some pottery. We all had a great time!

Etsy :: felt kimono piggy

As you all know, I've been a pig collector for over 25 years. Also, my Dad was in the Navy and spent most of his 25 years at sea in Orient...Bangkok, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan. I spent a summer living with my Dad in Korea. Throughout my home, I have a ton of Asian pictures, vases, statues and furniture.
I NEED this piggy for my collection!
